Keurig Coffee Brewers

At the end of June, my wife and I purchased a Keurig B40, single cup coffee brewer. I'm a huge huge fan of coffee and I particularly like a good bold/dark blend. Some people may see these units as a waste of money etc... considering that you can generally get a coffee pot pretty cheap and bulk coffee and filters pretty cheap. The problem is that I am the primary coffee drinker in our house. During the week, I get my fill of coffee at work. On the weekends, in order for me get a cup of coffee I had to make a full pot. Normally I'd drink about half of the pot. The rest was just wasted. There's also the times I wanted a cup after a good meal. Once again, I would have to make a full pot.

So in June we took a vacation to my mom and dad's house. I woke up and my mother fixed me a cup in their Keurig. From that moment, I was in love. My wife and I began looking at all of the options, varieties of K-Cups, and accessories. Once we researched it enough, we bought one. After a month of having one, we love it. Its nice to get up in the mornings, fix a single cup, and go on my way. On the weekends its really nice to have a cup or two and be done. My wife has even gotten into drinking several different flavored coffee varieties. We also purchased the dark chocolate hot chocolate for the occasional hot chocolate fix.

Its been a great experience. If you are on the fence about getting a unit, consider this:
  • No More wasting coffee
  • You can get the 'My K-Cup' unit that allows you to put in your own coffee
  • There are a ton of varieties of coffee so you can definitely find something you like
  • They also have hot-teas available
  • Amazon.com, bigcatcoffees.com, keurig.com all post specials

Believe me, once you get one and taste some of the premium blends that are available, you'll never go back.

Rant and Rave about Spelling

I have a big issue with kids who can't spell and ones who can but don't know which version of a word to use and when. I don't know why it is, but it seems to be a plague on the nation. I am constantly seeing various forms of text that have misspelled words or words spelled correctly but used completely wrong.

When I was in school, it seemed like there was a heavy emphasis on spelling and knowing when to use which version of a word. We would have a spelling test each week. At the end of the month we'd have another spelling test that covered the entire month's worth of spelling tests. We even had separate spelling books.

I pride myself on being a good speller and being a good user of the english language. Kids today don't seem to care though. One of these days these kids are going to be running the country. That is a scary thought. Right now some poor kid could be reading this post and not even know what I'm talking about because they don't even recognize these words as being correct!

It is a shame that kids can't spell. Before we know it, kids won't be able to do math or read. We already have kids like that in this world, but my fear is that it will be much worse in the near future.

Wake up America!! Get your kids to spell and use words correctly!!

Opening Thoughts

First of all, let me welcome you to this blog. I am trying my hand at blogging again and I am hoping that I can do better than I have in the past.

Let me also say that anything I say here is primarily my thoughts, opinions, observations and suggestions about anything. I am very opinionated and often tell people there is a right way, wrong way, and my way and that my way is generally better. It's not always the case though. There are times its turned on me and made me pay.

Anyway, welcome welcome.
